Avon Arsenal Comets U10 A vs Chew Valley A
5th November 2006 at East Harptree
After a scenic drive (accidentally extended by Ray's poor navigation skills) the team arrived at East Harptree on a fine sunny morning. The game started and the teams seemed evenly matched. The deadlock was broken after about 10 minutes after Jamie broke through on the right and slid in to poke an effort on goal, the keeper only managed to deflect the ball into Sam's path who calmly netted. Chew Valley equalised from a long shot, which unluckily for us, bounced just in front of our keeper, Josh, and into the net. Chew Valley went on to gain the lead after a penalty decision given in their favour. Avon levelled after a good move resulted in Theo crossing for Sam to slot in at the far post. It seemed that the teams would be even at half-time until a Chew Valley player found himself near the corner flag and attempted a cross which looped over our keeper and straight in the goal.
In the second half, Ayman
took over in goal and made some great saves. Conor defended well and Matthew G
made some great runs up front. Kaylum made it 3:3 with a superb individual
effort after a through ball from Taity. Chew Valley won the match with a great
team move finished off by the only girl on the pitch. Avon were unlucky not to
have a more positive result but nevertheless a thoroughly enjoyable game.
