Avon Arsenal Comets U10 A vs Peasedown
28th January 2007 at Kingswood Playing fields, Lansdown
Bath Arsenal Colts 7 - Peasedown 3
In fielding an experimental side, with Benji making his debut as an outfield player and by combining a number of boys from both A and B squads, Avon Arsenal performed very well in what was a game of end to end goal action, underlined by the score with the home team scoring 7 goals against the visitors 3.
Avon started very lively but it was thanks to a couple of fine saves from Will, that enabled Avon to take the lead when Benji received a pass from Callum and showing good control scored from the edge of the penalty area. Avon continued to pressurise and the Peasedown keeper made a fine save when from a good throw in from Benji, Callum had a good shot.
Peasedown came back strongly, but good defending from Josh and further fine saves from Will denied Peasedown from scoring. Eventually, the equaliser did come when Will could do nothing to stop a well worked goal.
Avon responded strongly with Chris making much impact as substitute and made a fine pass through to Benji who got his second goal. The third goal came when the ball was played through to the penalty area and from a fine header from Benji that beat the keeper, Jesse manged to get onto it make it 3 -1.
More goals followed in the second half through Josh, who showed some good skills before unleashing a cracking shot to beat the keeper. Will having moved to outfield in the second half also scored a fine goal from just outside the penalty box, after quick thinking when the keeper made a poor throw. Jesse was unlucky not to score again when he shot from close range just wide of the goal.
Sensing more goals, Avon were a little ill disciplined at the back and gave Jamie who had a great second half as keeper no chance , when he was left three on one. Peasedown scored again in similar fashion soon after to bring the score back to 5 -3.
Avon however, finished the strongest and showed their overall skill and superiority when Will showing his natural predatory instinct as striker got his second goal. Finally, Chris who had proved too good for Peasedown throughout most of the game scored the final goal.
7-3 - Well done boys !!
