Frome Collegians vs Avon Arsenal Comets U10
11th March 2007 at Selwood School Playing Fields, Frome
A team - Frome Collegians 0 - Avon Arsenal 8
After several wet weekends we finally had a fine mild afternoon to play
entertaining football in. The players responded by putting in a great
performance. Henry showed the way by passing from midfield and breaking through
Frome's defensive line to collect the return pass and finish convincingly. He
did this not once, but three times to secure a first half hat-trick. Assists
came from Theo and George. In defence Max was responsible for stopping Frome
attacks with strong tackles and quick distribution to the midfield. Towards the
end of the first half Felix was rewarded for his hard work by tucking in a goal
to make it 4:0.
In the second half Avon kept the pressure on and Ben powered a shot through a
crowded penalty area to open the scoring. Jonathan then followed Henry's example
by running from midfield onto a through ball to score his first. Throughut the
game Theo, George and Sam kept the play flowing with great passing and
awareness. Benji in contrast had a quiet game in goal, but his moment was to
come. With the ball in his hands he took advantage of the breeze and slight
slope to aim a long punt to our striker. Sam chased hard to get close to the
ball and in turn Frome's goalkeeper came out to meet him. The ball bounced
evading both players and over the goalkeeper's head into the Goal! Jonathan
later scored his second for the day and narrowly missed out on his-hat-trick
when he hit the post.
A fine performance.

B Team - Frome Collegians 0 - Avon Arsenal 6
Avon B found themselves playing Frome
on a beautiful spring like afternoon. Jesse was quick onto the score board with
a goal in the opening minutes. Camen scored a beckhamish goal on a long hard
drive from centre that the opposing keeper never saw coming. Matt B and Zach
worked very well together up front resulting in a hat trick for Matt. Josh
finished off the scoring with a late goal.
