The boys got off to a quick start with a couple of quick goals from George and
Jonathon. This was followed up by a first half goal from Andy. Unfortunately
the combination of a very muddy pitch, some very aggressive play by our
opponents and very poor refereeing meant that by mid way through the second half
our boys were left a little confused as to whether they were playing rugby or
football. Despite the heroic efforts from Kaylum in net, this allowed the other
side to tie the game and then get the winning goal in the closing minutes. It's
unfortunate that the boys enthusiasm for the game was momentarily dampened by a
poor application of the rules.
B Team - Frome Town Youth(Home)1 - Avon Arsenal 2
Avon were on the score board first with a superb goal from Tom. Frome quickly
tied it up and then we went on to a long game slipping and sliding around a very
muddy field. Zach, Felix and Connor all had opportunities but found themselves
sliding along just as they were ready to shoot. Dale however found his footing
just before the final whistle and put one past the keeper. Good goal keeping
from Jamie and excellent Defence from Matt and Max rounded off a superb effort
from the boys under difficult circumstances.
