Recent Results: We have had a very good run of results recently and the match reports can be viewed on the club’s website. www.avonarsenal.co.uk . A huge thanks to Tony Dindar for setting up and maintaining the site. Thanks also to those parents who have contributed with match reports.
Cup Results: The ‘A’ cup squad progressed through to the quarter-final by beating Frome Town Sports 8:2. Goals from Taity(2), Kaylum(3), Jamie(2) and Leon. Strong team-play by Theo also helped to ensure victory in this tie. Their next opponents are Westfield this weekend.
The ‘B’ cup team also progressed to the same stage by beating Peasedown ‘B’ 6:1.Goals came from Sam(2), Henry(2), Zach and Jesse. Tom was particularly strong in defence and James had a terrific game. Their next tie is a tough assignment against Chew Valley ‘A’
Astroturf Training: The final training session on the astro will be Wed 4th April. I will be away for that day, so Eric will run the session. If any parent is around that evening and would like to assist Eric, it would be greatly appreciated.
Football after Easter: As in previous years we will move onto grass training after Easter. However to reduce costs we shall not be using the facilities at Kingswood. Instead I shall investigate using a suitable local playing field. (Probably the Lansdown playing field adjacent to the park & ride) I shall confirm soon after Easter via e-mail and texts. If anybody can suggest another suitable alternative venue please let me know.
Presentation Day: This year the presentation/fun day will be on Sunday May 6th in the afternoon (exact start time to be confirmed)
Tournaments: As in previous seasons, we shall enter into a selection of the local 6-a-side tournaments. These are many of the boys’ favourite events of the year. In some tournaments I shall enter teams of mixed ability to provide experience and enjoyment and for other tournaments a ‘strong’ team in an aim to progress as far into the competition as possible. I shall ensure that all players have an opportunity to participate in at least one of these events.
Coach for a Day: On Saturday June 9th the Bath Arsenal 6-a-side tournament takes place. I am unlikely to be able to make that date for the full duration. What I thought would be a fun idea is to invite a parent or two to become guest coaches for the day. The squads will be arranged for you beforehand and all that is left to do is for you to display your tactical and encouragement skills on the pitch-side!! If there are any takers please contact me via e-mail avonarsenal.li@ukonline.co.uk or call me on 07838 112243. Please note- there is a entry deadline date.
Subs: Thank you to everybody for making the balancing payments for the subs monies. The vast majority has now been collected. There are just a couple outstanding for me to collect.

Update:
Just to let you know that we will resume training on Wednesday April 25th at
6pm. The location will be the Rec at Weston. This is located on Penn Hill Road
(where there is a back entrance to the Royal United Hospital) It is the road
that joins Weston Village to Kelston Road (Oldfield Girls School). The under 9's
are currently training there at the same time and Phil has said that there is
plenty of room for both groups. I've been told that a good place to park is
Chandler Close, opposite the entrance to the playing field. The training
sessions will finish at 7:00 - 7:15 depending on the weather conditions.
These post season sessions are quite important this year as next season we will
be playing 11-a-side with bigger goals, Off-sides etc etc. So there will be
plenty for the boys to get to grips with. As we are into the season for summer
sports I'm aware that some boys may have other activities that may clash. Don't
panic if your son cannot make these sessions as we will also have a few weeks of
pre-season training in August.
We did have one more league fixture to play but it seems that or opponents are
unable to fulfil this fixture. I will be hoping to arrange a couple of 11-a-side
friendlies, probably one in May and one in August in preparation for the season
ahead.
Unfortunately the B's were knocked out of the cup last week. The A's have made
it through to the semi-final and I will contact the player's involved regarding
the next fixture.
